A Rebel Rousing Spring

I awoke today close to astronomical sunrise (around 7:12 am). My head is still hot. I was sweating in my sleep and my cute cat son was poking at me with his claws because he was hungry. The more I pay attention to the seasonal shifts through the zodiacal season (now going on my 4th year of careful observeation). I feel the anticipation of Pisces leading into the bursting forth of Aries. Regardless of what the weather looks like in the often dreary springed pacific northwest.

There was a lot that I wanted to write about and publish today. However, you won’t have to look too hard to find the competitive nature of Aries budding its head like the sprout cracking the surface of the soil. In the astrological sphere. You will find an overabundance of the market flooded with our opinions about what Aries season means. The Zodiacal New Year and many people making predictions about what the chart of the Suns ingress into Aries means for our year ahead.

It’s also the season of the “Decan Walk” (if you’re not sure what that is a simple google search will guide you). If you’ve never heard of this practice or done one. I highly recommend finding some friends to study the decans with. Doing a decan walk by yourself is a daunting practice. Finding friends to do one with is way more engaging. Especially for those that also practice Tarot. I highly recommend “36 Secrets” by Susan T. Chang. It helps connect your cards to astrology through the zodiacal seasons and she just released a hardcover copy. Astrology at its core is observational and social. Observational in the way we watch the stars and record how their places and actions show up in our lives and social because we can also see how they interplay in the drama’s we share as a communal species of humans on this planet.

I’ll go ahead and take a couple jabs at the chart for the year here on the West Coast. In this practice of “Mundane Astrology” we take the moment the Sun reaches 0’00” of Aries and it will be our guide for what is to come ahead.

To give a little starting context. There is a lot of troubling and terrible events happening in the world at large. We are connected to information on a global scale that no other era of astrology has ever seen before. Though through this interconnected web of information is a gatekeeping of economic pseudoscience of market capitalism. Funneling to us the information that pushes our buttons like cattle prods to increase the emotions of Mars and Saturn. A focus on the energy that separates us into feral fear and isolation.

You will hear a lot of people in the political sphere of “The Left” (as a crude generalization) speak on the idea of “Building Community”. I will issue that recommendation as well. It is a year to build community. This is not a recommendation for internet activism, joining rebellious discord groups and forums. This IS a recommendation for finding people in your mutual community where you live. Internet and social media blackouts have already been used in Israel during the Palestinian struggle against ethnic cleansing and genocide. You need to know people you can trust around you.

A way that you can do this is to host gatherings. Though the Aries fire burns to the tune of independence. We can also use this energy to start new ventures. Be bold and Brave. Put up fliers. Invite people to talk about astrology or if you already have a community of friends that share ideals around a political sphere. You can use this season to develop strategies and exit plans for if you decide to join a protest this summer. Gather the tools and clothing you will want to wear to conceal yourself at these events. Make posters and signs. Catchy and hilarious signs that will ignite and inspire to spread your inner fire.

I say all of this because of the Horoscope for the season. In the West we find Luna rising in Sagittarius. Sagittarius is the mutable fire sign. To me I see this as the fire that we share. Ruled by the planet Jupiter who symbolizes Philosophy, Wisdom, Judges, Spirituality, and accumulation. This is the fire that inspires. Like torches that light each other. Jupiter is also Jovial. This inspiring fire is also that of laughter. Jupiter is also a sphere that encompases great bodies of people. Either at a church, rock concert, or sporting event. Where like minded people gather. To feel connectivity and unity in their ideals. This is where we find Jupiter. At every protest Jupiter is there igniting the spirit (no matter what political ideal you believe in).

Luna in mundane astrology represents “The People” and so carrying this Jupitarian torch. We see Luna rising in the east. We should expect a protest season that is robust and strong this summer. Especially as Mars leaves its Fall in Cancer.

Jupiter however is in it’s detriment in Gemini on the descendant. This has been described as untrustworthy judges. So we will see that protests will have their rights infringed upon. As I’ve been keeping my pulse on some of the literal trials that activist groups have been facing since 2020. We are seeing a Judicial sphere that is being weaponized against the protest community. This is once again reinforced by Jupiter being in detriment in Gemini. We also look at the condition of Jupiter to see how its domiciles of Pisces and Sagittarius are being resourced.

Jupiter is in detriment in Gemini because it takes time to integrate new ideas. Gemini is the fastest thinking sign and communicating sign of the zodiac. So we might see confusion arise quickly among the people about what issues to tackle first. Infighting is already a common enemy amongst the general “Left”. Without having a coheiceve dream or even construct of “Who” should lead and when. These are the type of internal issues that cause movements to collapse on themselves.

We see Venus in her Joy though retrograde and in Aries. She is tightly trine Luna. This tells us that rebellious art and music are either in the process of being made or primed to be released to help fuel our sense of expression. We should expect a lot of money to be made in the artistic industry revolving around anti-establishment redirects. I phrase it this way because the corporate arts and entertainment industry has been capitalizing off of protest energy since the 70’s. However, we’ve seen an increase of this since the dawning of MTV and the slow erosion of popular culture coming from within the grassroots of the people. Instead we are fed our revolution through corporate media advertising.

This is where I suggest making your own rebellious art to the tune of your own spirit. Instead of what becomes popular this summer. Though we can still find the rebellious spirit arise from nowhere all of a sudden. It’s key to keep a keen eye on how quickly they get absorbed into the corporate contracts and restrictions. Prince didn’t turn himself into a symbol for no reason.

For now I will finish here and say. That the Ace of Wands guides us to push our new ideas forward. The Queen of Wands asks us to be inclusive, inspire, and nurture others delight in the strife. Strike the match that lights a fire that burns bright enough to gather the like minded ones around you. Who then can light their own torches to be shared with who they come in contact with.
